DESCRIPTIONS

GRENADE LAUNCHERS

Armscor Striker AGL +0 Var 75m 2 belt $7500 25kg+ 5 40x53mmG IF, AE as Grenade

The Armscor Striker automatic grenade launcher is a relatively newer AGL design, which utilizes a large number of weight-saving features in order to reduce the operating weight of the weapon. The overall size of the Striker is slightly smaller than the Mk19, but is substantially lighter. As with the Mk19, the Striker is typically deployed on a tripod or other a vehicular "soft"-mount. However, as with the Mk19, a large cyborg (+4 BLD or more) could presumably utilize it as a heavy weapon, with slightly modified controls. The Striker is chambered for the 40x53mm High-Velocity grenade, and the shorter low-velocity grenades (40x46mm) as used in the M79 and other break-action GLs will not reliably operate the action.

CIS-40 AGL +0 Var 75m 2 belt $5000 25kg+ 5 40x53mmG IF, AE as Grenade

Chartered Industries of Singapore has also produced a next-generation equivalent to the Mk19, designated the CIS-40 AGL, and chambered for the 40x53mm High-Vel grenades. The CIS-40 AGL should not be confused with the CIS-40 GL (entry above), which is a break-open 40x46mm single-shot grenade launcher. The CIS-40 AGL has several improvements over the Mk19, the foremost of which is its lower mass, primarily due to the use of more lightweight alloy and polymer components, rather than the Mk19's steel. The CIS-40 AGL is also relatively inexpensive, and has seen brisk sales to a large number of foreign militaries. Again, the CIS-40 is designed to be fired from a tripod or vehicular mount, and is too massive for a man-portable weapon. A variant is manufactured for exo-suits and heavy combat borgs (BLD of +4 minimum)

CIS-40 Grenade Launcher +0 Var 50m 0 1 $500 2kg 4 40x46mmG IF, MR=10m, AE as Grenade

The CIS-40 break-open grenade launcher is yet another equivalent to the US-made M79, manufactured by Chartered Industries of Singapore. The CIS-40 is of a lightweight polymer construction with an aluminum rifled barrel and removable tube stock. The CIS-40 features substantially simplified direct- and indirect-fire sighting mechanisms. The CIS-40 is a lightweight and inexpensive alternative for a single-shot grenade launcher. Its low cost and mechanical simplicity and therefore ease of maintenance have made it a very popular support weapon for SWAT and other security forces.

HK69 Grenade Launcher +0 Var 50m 0 1 $650 3kg 4 40x46mmG IF, MR=10m, AE as Grenade

The HK69 grenade launcher is the united Germanies' equivalent to the American M79. As does the M79, the HK69 utilizes the high-low pressure system, and a break-open action. The HK69 also features telescoping stock, and two sighting mechanisms: a small flip-up sight for direct-fire to 100m, and a larger flip-up ladder sight for long-range indirect fire. With the stock collapsed, the HK69 is compact enough to fit in a special hip holster.

M79 Grenade Launcher +0 Var 50m 0 1 $500 3kg 4 40x46mmG IF, MR=10m, AE as Grenade

The M79 Grenade Launcher was first introduced nearly a century ago! The M79 is a manual-action break-open design, featuring a lightweight aluminum alloy rifled barrel and a high stock to allow a strong seating of the weapon even during high-angle firing. The standard sights are of the flip-up variety which is adjustable for windage and elevation. Additionally, there is a sliding notch that moves up and down the sight to set range for indirect fire.

Type 17 Auto-GL +0 Var 50m 1* belt $5000/100 10kg+ 5 IF, AE as Grenade 40x53mmG

The Poseidon Arms Type 17 Automatic Squad Support Grenade Launcher is a very potent weapon, generally seen in a heavy support role. Due to its immense size and weight, it is usually only issued to augmented troopers. Fairly typical of other man-portable AutoGLs, the Type 17 either feeds from a cylindrical drum on the left side of the weapon or standard belted grenades.
Requires minimum +2 BLD and STR required for burst fire w/o fixed mount.

Saco Mark 19 Auto-GL +0 Var 75m 2 belt $3500 30kg+ 5 40x53mmG IF, MR=10m, AE as Grenade

The original version of the Mk19 automatic grenade launcher was developed in the late 1960s as a support weapon for riverine patrol craft in Vietnam. The Mk19 is a heavy "machinegun" chambered for the 40x53mm high-velocity grenade and is typically deployed in a tripod mount. The Mk19 is a mechanically complex weapon that utilizes a massive 7kg reciprocating bolt that has a tendency to severely shift the weapon's center of gravity during fire. The manufacturer recommends a solid two-point fixture (or better) to provide a suitably stable firing platform. The Mk19 is not designed as a man-portable weapon, though a cyborg or exo-suit could presumably utilize it. The Mk19 is manufactured by Saco Defense Industries.

Saco CG40 +0 Var 75m 2 belt $7500 20kg+ 5 40x53mmG IF, MR=10m, AE as Grenade

Saco Defense Industries' CG40 is their next-generation automatic grenade launcher. The CG40 (also designated "Striker," but that name is far too common among weapon systems -- ed.) uses several techniques to substantially reduce the operational weight of the weapon system down from the Mk19's 30kg to a mere 20kg. Additionally, the CG40 utilizes Smart Fusing technology, similar to that utilized in the OICW/OCSW weapon sytems. This smart fusing allows for substantial increases in tactical capabilities, as the "smart" munitions can be airburst or delayed burst for best effectiveness against structures and defillade. These smart grenades are (unsurprisingly) more expensive than more conventional munitions.

CANNON

Colt/Mauser M-2X Cannon +0 x80 100m 0 5 $6000/100 22kg 6 20x102mm

This powerful semiautomatic fires full-sized 20mm shells from an over-the-shoulder position. This unique feature allows for a long-travel recoil absorption rod. A BLD roll versus 6 must be made if the weapon is fired from either a standing or moving position. Failure means the firer drops the weapon. Fumble results yield in heavily bruising the shoulder of the firer (-1 penalty w/ that arm for 2d6 hours).

OICW (20mm) +0 Var 100m 0 8 $12000/50 12kg 5 20x64mm
OICW (mated 5.56mm) +0 x20 50m 1 30 " /30 " " 5.56x45mm

The Objective Infantry Combat Weapon (OICW) project, started at in the final years of the 20th century for the United State's Force XXI (Force 21) project, the OICW attempted to update the portable firepower of the infantryman. Combining a M16- or G36-derived assault rifle in an underbarrel configuration with a "light" 20mm cannon typically firing airbursting munitions. The most significant characteristic of the weapon is not in the combination of weaponry, but in the targeting and fusing system involved in the airburst system. Both models at left show the sophisticated laser-rangefinding and sighting system which is used to download distance-to-target information to the 20mm shell prior to or during firing. Through the use of other 20mm munitions (HEAT, HEAP, HESH, etc) the infantryman had substantially greater capabilities against light-armor assets such as APCs and later, exo-suits. Unfortunately, the weapon mass and cost significant (12kg, $12000) prevented the wide-scale distribution as a standard trooper weapon. The Western Free States' have resurrected a similar design, and typically outfit 1-2 troopers per squad with them.
20mm Munitions:
Airburst: x30, AE=3m, $20/ea
HEAT: x60, HEAT, $20/ea
HEAP: x70, HEAT, $30/ea
HEDP: x50, AE=1m, $30/ea
HESH: x50, Armor-Crushing, $30/ea

OCSW +0 x60 100m 2 belt $10000 15kg+ 5 25x93mm MR=10m, AE=2m

The Objective Crew Served Weapon (OCSW) was the US attempt at a hybrid weapon that would replace both the Mk19 and the M2 .50 MG in purpose. The OCSW fires a "light" 25mm cartridge with a similar "smart fused" warhead like those seen in the OICW.

SPIW Penetrator +0 x60 100m 0 8 $5000/100 15kg 5 15x85mm

This massive rifle (though less-so than the M-2X) is chambered for the 15mm cannon round. As in the M-2X, the Penetrator is fired from an over-the-shoulder position, where a large recoil-absorbing rod absorbs a great deal of the recoil energy. Popular with many ESWAT teams the world over for its kinetic penetrating power, enhanced with the use of armor-piercing (AP) or saboted (APDS) rounds.

MORTARS

60mm Light Mortar -1 x120 150m 0 1 $5000 4kg 5 MR=100m, HEAT, IF, AE=25m
90mm Medium Mortar -1 x140 200m 0 1 $6000 6kg 5 MR=150m, HEAT, IF, AE=40m

Unlike the mortars of old which required teams of highly trained mean, these light and portable weapons can be carried and deployed by a single trooper in mere seconds. They typically fire high-explosive shells (x120 for the 60mm, x140 in 90mm) in an arcing, overhead trajectory. There is also a wide variety of alternate munitions available, ranging from training rounds (no damage), to flares, smoke, incendiary, fragmentation, and even laser-guided shells. Many of the more expensive and technically-advanced models include a modular aiming system that aids in determining the appropriate trajectory to a given target (consider such systems as Sniper Systems, and purchased as such).

The standard HE warhead has a 25m blast radius in 60mm, and a 40m blast radius in 90mm.
